DEFINITION OF A WOMAN-OWNED BUSINESS
According to MWBE.com (the Minority and Women Owned Enterprises website), a woman-owned business is defined as a business that is least 51% woman-owned or, in the case of a publicly-owned business, at least 51% of the stock is woman-owned.
Further, the management and daily operations are controlled by women.
WomanOwnedNewYork.com conforms to the same standard as MWBE.com with the additional requirement that the business have at least one location in New York.
ABOUT THE DEVELOPER
Woman Owned NY was conceptualized and developed by Veronique Topping, owner of
I-NetUniq Technologies, a web development company that works EXCLUSIVELY WITH WEB DESIGNERS to provide customized internet solutions for small business owners.
After spending over 15 years working in IT for other companies, Ms. Topping decided to put her business and technology experience to better use by developing her own web development company.
She then developed WomanOwnedNewYork.com as her way of supporting women-owned businesses as well as exposing these local business owners to a worldwide audience through the use of the internet.
